Here is your May edition of the Java Community Process sm (JCP sm)
program PMO News Bulletin.  This Bulletin is sent to JCP Members, Spec
Leads and Experts and is scheduled to be a monthly insert in your email
inbox. This edition covers the proposal of JCP version 2.6, JavaOne sm
2003, a Bay Area JUG meeting and some noteworthy JSRs.
 
 ** JCP VERSION 2.6 **

JCP 2.6 aims to make the JCP more transparent and efficient.  The JCP
Executive Committee (EC) recently approved JSR 215, JCP version 2.6, to
continue in the JCP and plans Community Review for July 2003.  View the

- JCP Member Event
The JCP Member Event will be held on Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm in the
Parc 55 Hotel. The evening offers a unique opportunity to hear from EC
and PMO members, and how they are working to meet present and future
requirements of the Java developer community.  Please RSVP to

Scheduled for Thursday at 9:30 pm in Concordia at the Argent. Come share
and discuss your experiences and wishes for the JCP.

This section of the News Bulletin calls out JSRs that have news to share
with the Java Community. If your JSR has something newsworthy to report
then send an alert ("Hey PMO!") to pmo@jcp.org.

-JSR 198 A Standard Extension API for Integrated Development 
Environments (IDE) will define a standard API that allows IDE 
tool developers to implement IDE-tool integration code
once and have their tool work on any IDE supporting the 
specification. Presently, the EG has defined the scope of
the JSR and has began work on the menu extension API.

-JSR 97 JavaHelpTM 2.0 Specification completed Public Review on May 1.

-JSR 168 Portlet Specification is in Community Review now; the review

-JSR 180 SIP API for J2ME TM has entered Public Review; the review

-The ME EC has approved the Community Review Ballot of JSR 195
Information Module Profile (IMP). The Public Review started immediately
the day after and closes May 22. View the JSR here:

-JSR-121 Application Isolation API Specification is going to do a 2nd
Public Review going from May 15 to July 13. View the JSR here:

-JSR 185 Java Technology for the Wireless Industry has entered Public
Review, with the close coming fast, on May 15. View the JSR here:

Remember, JSRs operating under JCP 2.5 (the current version of the
JCP) require that all expert group member entities have
