Whilst in principle I support an SVG API, I remain concerned about how this JSR will fit with CDC in general and the new features in PP/PBP version 1.1 in particular. This vote is based on the promise from the spec lead that "However, this JSR will be defined in a manner that will not conflict with the Personal Basis Profile".

On 2003-06-30 Motorola voted Yes with the following comment:
Motorola is voting yes, but is concerned about  the 2D drawing primitives overlapping the graphics functionality evolving in MIDP. Motorola will participate on this JSR expert group and hopes to facilitate the coordination of the 2D technology evolution with MIDP.

As a design point, the stated platform requirement is for MIDP/LCDUI and CDC/PBP/PP/AWT.  We would also ask the EG to consider that the 2D APIs support J2SE/AWT.  This would define a 2D end-to-end API that can be used across the complete Java family.
