** JCP EC Elections - October 1 - November 14, 2001 **
------------------------------------------------------
The time has arrived for the Executive Committee (EC) elections--the
ratification ballot opens on October 1. As a JCP member, you are
eligible to vote in the elections--each JCP member company casts one
collective vote. The JSPA contact for your company will receive voting
instructions shortly via email. To confirm that we have the correct JSPA
contact within your company please send e-mail to
participant-access@jcp.org.

Following the ratifications, nominations for the open elections can be
submitted. If you or your company is interested in joining one of the
ECs this is a good time to prepare your nomination. The nomination
template will become available from the web site on October 17.

You can influence the evolution of Java technologies by casting
your vote for the EC Nominees. The international Java community develops
and evolves Java technology specifications using the JCP. The EC has a
major role to play in this process--they are responsible for guiding the
evolution of Java technologies by approving specifications.

Don't be left out of this opportunity to shape the future of Java
technologies--participate in the election of the ECs, starting Oct 1.

** JavaOne(sm) Conference Goes Global **
----------------------------------------
The first ever JavaOne conference outside of San Francisco will be in
Yokohama, Japan, November 28-30, 2001. Meet and network with Java (tm)
technology developers from around the world to help take your code to
the next level.

The JCP will host an evening reception for JCP Members on Tuesday,
November 27, 2001, immediately following the Java Licensee event.
