We note this JSR proposes new package names for APIs whose use would presumably be unique to MIDP-based stacks. We urge the spec lead and expert group for this JSR to make every effort to strictly subset existing APIs for i18n already in the Java platform: those subsets derived from J2SE in JSRs 36 and 46 for use in CDC.  More important than the goals of any one expert group are the larger goals of the Community to provide a rich platform where developer skills, concepts, and API method, package and class names are consistent and tool-able across the three Java Editions.
