The API is extremely close to the old JMF in many concepts (DataSource, Manager, Player, Controls & the player state machine) but entirely transposed into the javax.microedition.media package.  I find the precedent this sets for future re-use of J2SE technology in J2ME very worrying and for this reason am unable to vote for this. I would encourage the EG to re-evaluate whether it is possible to make parts of this a proper subset of real JMF which can be in the javax.media package.
