From the PMO


  • The JCP PMO and the Executive Committees announced on Monday, April 28 the nominations for the 2008 JCP Program Awards. Read here who this year's nominees are. Congratulations to all!
  • Check the JCP activities at the 2008 JavaOne Conference here. Most of them will take place at the Intercontinental Hotel San Francisco including the JSR Expert Group meetings for which the PMO has reserved the Fremont Room from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, May 5-9, 2008. Reservations are on first come, first served basis, to make yours email Liz Kiener at liz@jcp.org.
  • A new Star Spec Leads program will be launched at the 2008 JavaOne Conference. The new program takes the elements of the original Spec Leads incentives program including the rewards and links them to a better defined set of criteria.
  • The Java Community Process Survey is now available. We would like to hear from you with your opinions, take a few moments to complete it.

At JavaOne:

Some of the JSRs nominated for the 2008 JCP Program Annual Awards are also featured in technical sessions, panels, labs and BOFs at JavaOne including milestone JSR 316, Java EE 6 (BOF-4984).
Other milestone JSRs spotlighted at JavaOne are JSRs 248 and 249 (TS-5140,PAN-5577and JSR270, Java SE 6 (TS-4864).

April Advancers
  • JSR 82, Java APIs for Bluetooth is now in Maintenance Review 3.
  • JSR 113, Java Speech API 2.0 entered Final Approval Ballot stage.
  • JSR 235, Service Data Objects recently wrapped up Early Draft Review.
  • JSR 249, Mobile Service Architecture 2 published its early draft which will be under review until May 29.
  • JSR 262, Web Services Connector for Java Management Extensions (JMX) Agents, moved to Public Review which runs until May 13, 2008.
  • JSR 325, IMS Communication Enablers (ICE), was newly submitted to the JCP and is currently under review which ends on May 5 with the Review Ballot.

The Spec Leads who would like to contribute content to articles in developer publications (print and/or on-line) please contact the JCP PMO. The JCP receives leads from publications on a daily basis and is inviting you to take advantage of the opportunity to share your work under the JCP with broader audiences via our program of contributed articles.
