Building & Strengthening the Java Brand
During the JavaOne conference, the next generation of the Java platform will be detailed. The next releases of the platforms will incorporate a new naming structure:
  • JavaTM Platform, Standard Edition 6 (shorthand: JavaTM SE 6)
  • JavaTM Platform, Enterprise Edition 5 (JavaTM EE 5)
  • JavaTM Platform, Micro Edition (JavaTM ME)
The name change only applies to future versions of the platform, beginning with products shipping after the JavaOne conference. Current and older versions should continue to carry the current naming structure. More information, including a 1-pager (At-A-Glance) document, and FAQs is posted on java.sun.com. If you have additional questions, please e-mail the Java Naming Help Desk: javanaming@sun.com.
